Students on AFF Level 1 - 7:
General: All jumps will be directly supervised by a Skydive Monroe AFF Instructor, who will ensure that all safety requirements are met.
Currency: We strongly recommend that you read the Pre-Jump Study Sheet before each day of jumping.
0 to 30 days since last jump: Continue with the next recommended AFF level.
31 to 90 days since last jump: Receive a more thorough briefing, repeat the last AFF level.
91 or more days since last jump: Repeat AFF First Jump Course; AFF level at Instructor's discretion.
Students Who Have Completed AFF Level 7, But Aren't Yet Licensed:
Currency: We strongly recommend that you read the Pre-Jump Study Sheet before each day of jumping.
31 to 90 days since last jump: Receive briefing and repeat AFF level 7 with an AFF Instructor.
91 or more days since last jump: Repeat AFF First Jump Course; AFF level at Instructor's discretion.
Equipment: Hard helmet, altimeter, rig with RSL and AAD. Get a complete gear check from an Instructor or Coach before boarding the plane.
Canopy: Square or slightly elliptical, with wing loading less than 0.9 PSF (see chart by gear room door).
Jump Types: Belly flying only. Flips, turns, and rolls are okay, but no freeflying or canopy formations.
Group Size: Up to four, when under the supervision of an Instructor, Coach, or other Coach-qualified jumper. The other jumpers should have at least a B License.
Night Jumps: No.
Camera Jumps: No.
Exit Altitudes: Minimum 5,500' until AFF 8 is completed, then 3,500'. Maximum 15,000' MSL.
Minimum Pack Opening Altitude: 3,500' (i.e., start the waveoff above 4,000').
Maximum Ground Winds: 12 Knots.
Latest Landing Time: 15 minutes before sunset.
A License Holders:
Currency: We strongly recommend that you read the Pre-Jump Study Sheet at least once a month.
61 to 90 days since last jump: Recurrency jump with a Coach or Instructor.
91 or more days since last jump: Receive briefing and repeat AFF level 7 with an AFF Instructor.
One year or more since last jump: Repeat AFF First Jump Course; AFF level at Instructor's discretion.
Equipment: Hard helmet, rig with RSL and AAD. Always feel free to ask for a gear check!
Canopy: Square or slightly elliptical, with wing loading less than 1.0 PSF (see chart by gear room door).
Jump Types: Jumper discretion, but only do freeflying or canopy formations with a very experienced jumper, preferably an Instructor. No lurking student jumps
Group Size: No more than six belly flyers or two freeflyers in a group, regardless of their experience level.
Night Jumps: No.
Camera Jumps: No.
Exit Altitude: Minimum 3,500', maximum 15,000' MSL.
Minimum Pack Opening Altitude: 3,000' (i.e., start the waveoff above 3,500').
Maximum Ground Winds: Jumper discretion, but if the more experienced jumpers are staying on the ground...
Latest Landing Time: Sunset.
B License Holders:
Currency: We strongly recommend that you read the Pre-Jump Study Sheet at least once a month.
91 or more days since last jump: Recurrency jump with a Coach or Instructor.
One year or more since last jump: Repeat AFF First Jump Course; AFF level at Instructor's discretion.
Equipment: Helmet (until 100 jumps), rig with RSL (except on camera jumps) and AAD.
Canopy: Square or slightly elliptical, with wing loading less than 1.1 PSF (see chart by gear room door).
Jump Types: Jumper discretion, but only freefly with experienced freeflyers. May lurk Tandem or AFF students with 300 group freefall jumps.
Group Size: Consult with load organizer.
Night Jumps: Yes, with briefing, etc.
Camera Jumps: Yes, with 100 jumps. Camera flying with Tandem or AFF students allowed with 300 group freefall jumps, 50 camera jumps, and S&TA approval.
Exit Altitude: Minimum 2,500', maximum 20,000' MSL (with 100 jumps).
Minimum Pack Opening Altitude: 2,500' (i.e., start the waveoff above 3,000')
Maximum Ground Winds: Jumper discretion, but if the more experienced jumpers are staying on the ground...
Latest Landing Time: Sunset.
C or D License Holders:
Currency: We strongly recommend that you read the Pre-Jump Study Sheet periodically.
Six months or more since last jump: Recurrency jump with a Coach or Instructor.
Equipment: Jumper discretion.
Canopy: Jumper discretion.
Jump Types: Jumper discretion. May lurk Tandem or AFF students with 300 group freefall jumps.
Group Size: Jumper discretion.
Night Jumps: Yes, with briefing, etc.
Camera Jumps: Yes. Camera flying with Tandem or AFF students allowed with 300 group freefall jumps, 50 camera jumps, and S&TA approval.
Exit Altitude: Minimum 2,000', maximum 40,000' MSL.
Minimum Pack Opening Altitude: 2,000'.
Maximum Ground Winds: Jumper discretion.
Latest Landing Time: Sunset.
Please keep in mind that these are minimum safety standards that were learned the hard way by those who came before us. Most experienced jumpers stay well on the safe side of these limits.
