AFF Level 6

This is a very exciting jump! You will only have one instructor with you, and you are asked to perform a back loop. The freefall learning objectives are to exit the airplane unassisted, maintain altitude awareness, recover from an unstable position, control your freefall unassisted, and wave off at 4500 ft and deploy the main parachute.

  • New Material
    • Solo exit (hop sideways vs. door-swing)
    • Backloop
    • Delta
    • Rear-riser turns

Freefall TLO's
  • Unassisted climbout and stable exit
  • Altitude Awareness
  • Unstable maneuver and recovery
  • Maintain stability and heading during delta
  • Unassisted waveoff and pull at 4,500 feet
Canopy TLO's
  • Choose landing pattern
  • Rear-riser turns above 1,000 feet
  • Keep aware and clear of other canopies
  • Fly landing pattern (radio standby)
  • Flared landing (radio standby)

Dive Flow:

  • Climb out (instructor not holding on)
  • Roach Hotel check
    • "Check in",("OK")
  • Exit count
    • (Prop! Up, down, arch, arch, arch!)
  • Circle of Awareness
  • Turn to the airport
  • Instructor moves to front of student
  • Backloop, recover to original heading
  • Circle of Awareness
  • Delta toward airport (3 to 5 seconds)
  • Check altitude:
    • If above 6,000 feet, Delta toward airport (3 to 5 seconds)
    • If at or below 6,000 feet, short circles
  • 4,500 feet - wave off and Pull!
    • (Arch, reach, throw, check, "1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000")
  • Check canopy
    • (Square, Stable, Steerable)

Remember: Don't make low turns! You lose altitude VERY fast.
