Golden Rules
1. Land safely.
Set up a good landing pattern. Look out for aircraft and
other jumpers. Keep your eyes open for obstacles. Flare.
If you're not sure you can stand it up, slide it in or PLF. The skydive isn't
over 'til you're on the ground.
2. Land safe, not close.
If you think you can make it to a convenient area, but
you know you can make it to a larger, safer area, go for
the safer area and the longer walk.
3. Leave room for error.
Stuff happens up there, folks.
4. Stay ahead of the jump.
Know what's supposed to happen next -
5. Always have a plan.
- and know what to do about it -
6. Never give up.
- and don't stop skydiving if something else happens instead, "It
isn't over 'til it's over. "
7. Know your altitude.
And what that altitude means to you on this jump.
8. Know when to say "no".
A saying that's well known to old pilots and jumpers alike: "It's
better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the
air wishing you were on the ground. "
9. Don't make low, sharp turns.
How low? How sharp? If you're not sure, it's too low,
and too sharp.
10. Know your gear, and check it.
Treat it right and it'll treat you right.
